With the low tide permitting we will head out on this 1 hour informative reef flat adventure.
Reef walking is a fantastic way to learn about the amazing animals and plants that inhabit one of the harshest environments of a coral reef - the reef flat. Twice a day the living things that inhabit this area have to cope with being exposed to dry air, warmed water, the hot unshine or an increase in fresh water if it rains ... they have adaptions to deal with this.
Before you head out
- For your own safety, make sure you are wearing covered footwear at all times in the water (reef walking shoes available free on the island)
- It's a good idea to wear shorts in the water, as you may get wet up to your knees or thighs
- A hat and sunscreen are good protection from the sizzling sun
- Take a balancing pole and a seascape to make your walk a little easier
