MEDIA RELEASE Tuesday 11th January

Queensland’s Fraser Coast Open for Interstate Travellers

Despite extensive flooding in several regions within Central and South East Queensland, Fraser Coast remains accessible to interstate visitors via the upgraded Hervey Bay airport.

Tourism Fraser Coast CEO Damien Massingham said that the Hervey Bay airport is still operating as per normal, with direct flights arriving daily from Sydney with Virgin Blue and Brisbane with Qantaslink.

"Interstate visitors can take advantage of access to the Fraser Coast via flights from all major capital cities through either Sydney or Brisbane with Virgin Blue, Jetstar and Qantas" Mr Massingham said.

"Flights arriving and departing from Hervey Bay airport remain fully operational and have been unaffected by the rainfall that has affected other areas" he added.

"So Hervey Bay is still very easily accessible to our interstate travellers, with tourism operators on Fraser Island, Lady Elliot Island, Hervey Bay and Maryborough open for business and featuring some excellent holiday deals" Mr Massingham said.

"I would strongly urge families and other visitors to take advantage of the great deals being offered by going to www.frasercoastholidays.info and make the most of the remainder of the school holidays" said Mr Massingham.
