turtles
Turtles today are very similar to their ancestral forms. They are well adapted to life in the ocean, but unfortunately their continued existence is becoming more and more threatened. Turtles can be utlised by man in many ways - their meat and eggs can be eaten, shells for jewellery, oils for medication or cosmetic industries etc.Not only are turtles hunted for these uses, many die each year from accidental capture in trawler nets or set nets, plastic debris can be mistaken for food and can choke the animal.  Adult turtles, although they can be attacked by sharks and killer whales, have few natural predators.
