Blue Linckia Seastar
This is one of the most common sea stars around Lady Elliot Island, and because of its bright blue colour, it is very easy to spot. If you spot a blue linckia, run your finger gently along one of its arms - it's harder than you expect it to be. Seastars move by hundreds of tube feet that run along the underside of their arms. Seastars have awful table manners: they will sit on top of whatever they want to eat, push their stomach out of their mouth and digest their food outside of their body. |
