Swimming with giant manta rays is one of the most exciting underwater experiences imaginable. With a reef virtually surrounding Lady Elliot Island, in the beautiful Coral Sea off the Bundaberg coastline, manta rays iust seem to hang around, swimming and feeding - much to the pleasure and delight of island guests.
The gentle giants, sometimes measuring UP to four metres wide, appear to welcome the chance to swim with guests.
Lady Elliot Island, is proving to be home to the most popular dive sites along the coast, with 12 sites available for exploration. Dive sites on the reefs around Lady Elliot Island include; Severance Wreck, Coral Gardens, Blow Hole and Spiders ledge. One of the most popular sites is Anchor Bommies, a premium dive location. Two ancient Admiralty anchors lie some twenty-one metres down at this site, offering stunning displays of sealife - from manta rays, purple leafy scorpion fish and cleaner shrimp through to a large shovelled nosed ray.
Seair Pacific provides scenic charter flights departing daily from Gold Coast Airport. You can choose from a snorkeling day trip or stay overnight on the coral cay.
