HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!! Now where else would you want to spend the most romantic day of the year, other than a tropical island? The water was absolutely beautiful, as turtles gathered around the Glassbottom boat to take a breath and little reef sharks lazily cruised along the edge of the reef. Snorkelers adored the clear cool water as the day grew hotter and hotter. Morning Divers at Anchor Bommie descended on to a sandy patch of sea floor just metres away from a big Cowtail stingray.  After watching him for a few minutes, divers drifted along finding small reef sharks, lots of turtles and a seasnake that cruised up behind them, then twisted away rapidly.

The Island Tucker Tourers found themselves using their knowledge of the island to see if they could survive here, if the resort wasn’t here.  With the knowledgeable Nick, helping out, they came to the conclusion that a diet of sea cucumbers, fish, and Pandanus fruit might just be a way to live for a couple of weeks.  After that though, they might as one guest declared “make a raft and get outta here”.

names of the popular species at fish feeding, and let them swim between their ankles as the food was thrown in.  The Picasso Triggerfish made a brief appearance, even coming past the guide’s legs to the centre of the fish pool to grab a bite. That’s not a very common occurrence for our Triggerfish.

In a sea of pink and red balloons, and lovely sayings and decorations, the valentines activities were put on hold as baby turtles decided to crash the party. Babies began crawling up to the bar towards the lights, coming from all directions, in the vegetation, the beach, north, south, east and west.  After collecting 120 of them, valentines enthusiasts decided to play a couple of games before heading down to release the little party crashers.  Balloon races, declarations of love and song serenades had everybody in fits of laughter, as boys and girls tried to outdo each other.  Ending the party with a marshmallow favourite, and two fellas declaring they loved each other over and over with more and more marshmallows in their mouths, it was time to go.  Heading to the sandy beaches of the northern end, we released all the babies, who made a run for the water so quickly, it was difficult to take photos. We wish all our little cupids out there the best of luck.  What an awesome was to spend Valentines day on this little jewel in the coral sea.
