The first Humpback Whales were spotted today!!

That’s pretty exciting news.  We all wait and search the horizon line every year just waiting for this amazing migration to reach our shores.  Pregnant mothers and escorts are normally the first to make their way by.  Their extra heavy bodies are held weightless by the ocean and the aerobic antics are normally seen after they have given birth and have playful calves in tow.  The Males, of course, are always demonstrating their amazing tail slaps, breaches, and pec slapping to ensure that the females notice them.  We have been hearing the beautiful whale song from the males for a week or two now – even from 10 miles away this melodic song resonates through the water and has us all duck diving down to hear more!

So welcome to our humpback whales we look forward to the special encounters we will enjoy this season!
