Well what a morning it was for our divers! They were ever so fortunate to have in excess of sixty manta rays come feeding over their heads. Project manta was there to capture the action and in this short visit they have identified over 100 new individuals! That takes their library to around 350 separate individuals bringing them closer to answers about this mysterious creature. Divers also observed the Manta’s doing loop the loop and some interesting chasing behaviour. It was marvelous to see these giants in full flight.
The glass bottom boat also had a fantastic morning with the Manta Rays with guests watching them glide all around the boat. The weather closed in and it got pretty wet but once you’re snorkeling it doesn’t matter too much because the water is warm and the fish are always happy rain, hail or shine. The parrotfish looked spectacular with their bright colours and were busy munching the algae off the coral below. Guests enjoyed swimming with some green turtles before jumping back on the boat and having a nice warm shower and hot buffet lunch.
The rain continued through the afternoon so some guests came and watched documentaries on the big screen in the Education Centre. Others were happy to have a nice relaxing evening in the bar spending time with their families and enjoying hot chocolates. |
