The glass bottom boat has been having great luck of late with huge numbers of manta rays almost every day! They didn’t disappoint today with absolutely loads of them out at the lighthouse bommies around the boat.

The Great Barrier Reef contains about 1500 species of fish and the Capricorn bunker group of islands (the group with Lady Elliot in it) contains about 1000 of them. Today showed a great cross section of beautiful species with the iconic butterfly fishes, damsel fish and big cods appearing at various stages of the snorkel.

The whales were singing their incredible songs again today and guests were rapt. They learnt that the males sing their favourite song over and over and occasionally if another whale has a nice song they will incorporate it into their own tune. Then the male with the nicest tune gets the most women!
