Another perfect day in paradise began right here on Lady Elliot!
Whales were spotted at breakfast and gave the first Glassbottom boat quite a show. The second boat saw the whales from a distance but were rewarded with turtles galore when they jumped in for a snorkel. A big Crayfish was spotted lurking beneath a huge piece of plate coral, and a lone octopus propelled itself through the water, changing colours as it settle on the sandy bottom. Green turtles encompassed snorkelers as they drifted along second reef, gazing in awe at the whole different world underwater.
Birdwatchers spotted a single Frigate Bird patrolling the skies for a feast, and visited the nesting Red Tailed Tropic Bird under Suite 3 who has less than a month now until her bundle of joy arrives.
Island discoverers wandered the eastern beach reviewing how the island formed, the variety of vegetation and the different species of birds found throughout the year. Fish feeding of course had those huge Diamond scaled sea mullet caressing ankles as the casually slipped between people’s ankles to grab a bite to eat.
At night, everyone crowded into the dining room for a game of Reef Bingo. The winner at the end had to run around the dining room yelling “Lady Elliot Rules”, a feat which seemed far too simple for our winner, who did it twice!
