Another extraordinary day on the island, not that we get very many ordinary ones.
Snorkelers jumped in at Second Reef to find two huge Leopard Rays sitting comfortably on the bottom. Turtles cruised around and a Blue Linckia seastar at on the edge of the coral. Snorkelers were delighted to feel the velvety body of a prickly red sea cucumber, that their guide brought up from the sandy bottom. Morning divers at the Severance Wreck found a massive Moray Eel slinking through the ship and followed it north to find a huge circling school of Big-eyed Trevally.
Afternoon fish feeders found “Nigel” - the Silver Drummer, some Golden-lined Rabbitfish, heaps of Diamond Scaled Mullet and Moon wrasse, and a Green Turtle in the fish pool!! The turtle, deciding that it wasn’t supposed to be there, took off pretty quickly speeding gracefully through the Lagoon. The fish however, gobbled and nibbled until not a speck of food could be seen in the water.
Nighttime wanderers joined on the Night stalk finding 3 little frogs squished into a pipe, enjoying the slight dampness at the bottom, whilst another 5 were found in the drain behind House 2. A funny event occurred when, as the guide was telling a few ghostly stories, a door slammed in the house. Guests jumped, then doubled over with laughter that such a small thing could scare them so much!!
