Morning reefwalkers happened upon a tiny Pincusion sea star in the Lagoon when wandering through the sandy paths. The sea star, yellowy-green in colour, was small enough to fit in the palm of the guide’s hand. What a discovery! Sticking through the gaps in the coral at the top, an anemone was spotted housing one tiny little anemone fish. This fish, no bigger than a fingernail, kept darting in and out of sight within the anemone.
Glassbottom boaters found masses of turtles on the surface when cruising along and looking at the reef. They stayed around the boat, allowing snorkelers a good look when they jumped in. Diving down about three metres, the whales could be detected singing their love songs. The grunts and snorts brought smiles to many snorkelers faces.
Afternoon divers at Hiro’s Cave saw one Silvertip Reef shark when they descended and watched as it disappeared into darker waters. Beautifully coloured nudibranchs sat on the coral and divers took delight in photographing the different colours and patterns.
With only fifteen people staying the night on the island tonight, the Kitchen team put on a beautiful A la Carte dinner in the dining room, where staff and guests sat, watching the ocean and being served dinner and drinks in peace. A beautiful evening to end the week.
