Welcome August. And welcome Bond University students who are here for a week to study the marine environment.
But the most exciting news on the island today was the welcoming of new life to the island. The TROPIC BIRD HATCHED!! A tiny little ball of fluff was spotted under suite 3 early morning by “maintenance” Rob. Only the fluffy parts have been glimpsed so far, but we’re looking forward to seeing this new little treasure!
Glassbottom boaters this morning pulled out their cheers and applause as whales breached in the distance for the first ten minutes of the boat ride. Green turtles popped up next to the boat to look at their audience then dove down deep to take a nap under the coral. Masses of Scissor-Tail Fusiliers swam under the glass of the boat, leading up to an even more enormous school of Big-eyed Trevally, where more than a thousand fish swam in a massive swirling loop.
Arrrgghh Me Hearties, It’s PIRATE Night!! Bunches of ‘acting’ pirates grouped in the Lagoon Bar for games and fun as the head pirate (the island manager) skipped through the dining room in a very short skirt! Coconut Bowls and a dancing competition had everyone, young and old on their feet, itching to get their coconuts closest! |
