Heaps of Manta Rays were spotted from the planes this morning as they prepared guests for their soon-to-be mind-blowing experience on Lady Elliot!
When the Glassbottom boats ventured out into the Lighthouse keyway, they were spotted again cruising on the surface, along with a whale breaching way out in the distance. Turtles poked their heads up to take a look at the boat passing them, then dived back down into the depths of the Big Blue!
Island discoverers this afternoon were lucky to find the Tropic Bird chick poking his head out from underneath the wing of the parent who sat with him!! That’s the first time this little face has been sighted! Afternoon reefwalkers found a big Pincusion Seastar nestled under some branching coral, right next to an Anemone. A Blue Linckia Seastar poked some of its legs out from within some coral and a Sea Hare slimed its way across a big boulder of coral, eating the algae that grew on top!
Fish Feeding invited the crowd of Mullet to come and nibble away whilst the guide directed food into the fish pool and explained the formation of the fish pool in the 1950s.
Teamed up against the Trivia Buff, guests fought their way to the top answering questions in Friday Night Reef trivia, where the winning team had a slight advantage of a university professor on their side. Afterwards, the party was pumped up in the bar as staff put on a disco to celebrate the last night of the university holiday on Lady Elliot! Some very unique dance moves emerged on the dance floor this evening!!
