Once again with the strong westerly winds, Glassbottom boaters loaded at the southern end of the airstrip ready for their adventure.  A drift snorkel from Hiro’s cave with black and white tipped reef sharks, Green and Hawksbill turtles, what more could you ask for?  The snorkel was so relaxing and leisurely, most snorkelers didn’t want to get out, so once the boat returned to the shore, they jumped straight back into the lagoon to explore some more.

Island discoverers in the afternoon were stopped by whales breaching on the Eastern side, so ten minutes were spent cheering the whales on!! The Rail chicks were spotted clinging close to their parents, almost adults now, just a tiny bit of chick fluff at their tails.  At the Red-tailed tropic Bird sight, guests received a lovely surprise when an adult flew in at exactly the right time to sit with the chick.  Guests watched in wonder as the adult flew in, landed with a “Flump” and waddled over to sit on the chick.  The chick, apparently not too keen on being sat on, squawked and pecked the adult until it “flumped” off again.  What an awesome sight to see!!

By night, guests gathered in the Education Centre for a presentation on Humpback whales and for a quick lesson on how to speak whale for future glassbottom boat trips to call the whales closer!
