Thanks - From the guy who couldn't walk very far
Just a short note to say thanks for such a wonderful holiday. Earlier this year I received some not-so-good news about my health and we decided to take a what may be our last "adventure holiday". As I can't walk very far we decided on Lady Elliot as the cabins were so close to the beach. My legs and I were grateful of the golf buggy ride to our front door and we spent many wonderful hours of our 'last great holiday' enjoying the beach and lagoon at low tide. The near deserted beach and lagoon surpassed every expectation but the best was yet to come... the glass bottom boat/snorkel tour. We were picked up at our front door and driven across the island to our departure point. The short walk down the beach was quite easy even though it was over broken corals. Boarding the glass bottomed was also effortless thanks to the front loading ramp. The glass bottomed boat tour revealed so many magically coloured corals I just *had* to take the opportunity of a snorkel in those untouched waters. The crew were patient and helpful as I manouvered myself onto the diving platform and from the moment I hit the water I was surrounded by hundreds of brilliantly coloured fish and corals the like of which I had never seen. I must admit to being a little nervous at first as it had been thirty years since I had been snorkelling but my confidence was quickly boosted by the divemaster who kept a very close eye on this aging invalid who could do nothing but smile and stick his head back underwater. I must have looked a sight - smiling with a snorkel in my mouth, making the OK sign and sticking my head back in the water but I guess divemasters see that quite a lot on Lady Elliot. Six weeks after our tour I'm still smiling (sans snorkel) and planning a longer trip... three days without a mobile phone glued to my ear just wasn't enough :) Thanks again to all your staff for being so friendly, helpul and professional. It still amazes me that your staff were as happy and excited by Lady Elliot Island as I was! Oops, forgot to mention how fantastic it was to see turtles hatching, the Noddy Terns and a nesting Red Tailed Tropic Bird, all just meters from our cabin!!! It was truly the trip of a lifetime and I can't wait to do it again.
