A lost world

We approached in the plane and took in this island paradise A jewell in an ocean azure, a sight that mesmerised The relaxed and unforced hospitality of staff with genuine passion For this unspoiled wonderland with no thought to pretence or fashion We snorkelled amongst the colours, contours and crustaceans And the joy of Lady Elliot intensified our marital relations! A kaleidoscopic sunset kissed the shimmering water on the coral beach Ancient gentle turtles swam around us easily within reach And as night enveloped the island and the birds stopped their song A giant turtle lays eggs on the sand after a maternal journey lovingly long A weekend in Eden and one that went too fast A hope for future returns to this highlight of my past.
