Lady Elliot Island is the perfect destination to bring the kids for a ‘good old fashioned’ family holiday. There are no TV’s or radios in the rooms and no mobile reception giving them plenty of opportunity to get back to nature and explore the amazing eco system on Lady Elliot Island.

The Lagoon located in front of the Resort is a haven for exploring the reef in a safe and protected environment. During high tide, this is the perfect spot for the family to go snorkelling together and to teach the little ones how to snorkel. The lagoon area is ideal for novice or younger snorkellers and you'll find enough tropical fish, colourful coral and friendly turtles to keep everyone entertained. At low tide, reef walking will keep the kids amused for hours looking for sea cucumbers, sea stars, sea urchins, coral, clams, crabs, fish of all colours and sizes and so much more!

Families can also join a range of complimentary guided activities/tours held offered in the morning afternoon or evening to learn more about this incredible coral cay and it’s wildlife inhabitants. During turtle nesting and hatching season we schedule regular Turtle Tours  and go searching for nesting turtles and the gorgeous little hatchlings making their way down the beach in to the ocean.

All our guests are invited to join a glass bottom boat/guided snorkel tour which is included in the overnight rate and this is a great activity for the families, one (1) per person, additional tours available to purchase. Guests board our custom built vessel for a 20 minutes expert commentary about the coral and marine creatures that can be viewed through the glass enroute to the snorkelling spot. Guests then have the opportunity to snorkel for 30 minutes to discover the wonders and meet the resident marine creatures of Great Barrier Reef. For the more experienced snorkellers, why not join one of our snorkel safaris and embark on a journey of discovery with our friendly and knowledgeable staff guide to maximise your chances of seeing turtles, reef sharks and manta rays. The snorkel safari is a great ways to experience the reef with the safety of a boat close by. Cost: $40 Adult/$20 Child (3-12)

Put on some comfortable walking shoes or crocs and go beachcombing with the kids. The Island is only small and it will take approx. 45 minutes to walk around it. You also have a choice of two (2) Walking Tours/Trails around the Island, grab a copy of the Walking Trail map and follow the directions for the ‘Discovery Walking Trail’ or ‘Eco Walking Trail’
